Wuxian grumbles at the pinch until he realises he can hear Lan Qiren outside and he sits up abruptly to listen - though he has to clamp a hand over his mouth to hide his sniggers at Lan Zhan's reactions.
Yuan had hesitated when he first stepped out and saw Qiren, trepidation on his face as he bows back to the two of them - shifting to surprise when he mentions an apology.
It gets very awkward, very quickly though when his father refuses to accept it, and Yuan stands quietly beside him trying to work out if he ought to say anything or not.
He almost says it's fine, but decides in the end to stick with filial piety and stand by his father, politely silent while he waited for the outcome of this little family drama.
